“IL BLU CIVITA”
2025, Civitacampomarano
”IlBlu Civita” features elements drawn from the natural environment of Civitacampomarano: wildflowers, blooms cultivated by residents, sparrows, and white butterflies.
The composition was created freestyle, guided by intuition. During the process, the artist was reminded of Ikebana—the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. In Ikebana, each element is placed with intention, balancing space and form in a way that reflects nature without imitating it.
The choice of blue was inspired by a particular pigment still visible on many of the town’s houses, the Civita Blue. In the 1950s, a local shop began selling only two colors: white and a vivid blue. The latter soon became the preferred shade for decorating renovated homes, appearing on window frames and other architectural details.
Over the decades, this blue has resisted sun and weather, becoming a distinctive presence in Civita. With this mural, the artist pays tribute to that enduring color, its strength and persistence.
